Three visit visa refusals, and a route nobody had suggested
His wife had been refused a UK visit visa three times. She was not trying to visit. She was trying to join her husband, so we changed the route.
Dependent Visa

His wife had been refused a UK visit visa three times, each time because her outgoings looked larger than her income. She was not trying to visit. She was trying to join her husband.
At a glance
- Client: Skilled Worker visa holder in the UK, previously assisted by AY&J
- Applicant: His wife, in India, working as a sales manager
- Matter: Skilled Worker dependant application
- History: Three UK visit visa refusals: November 2024, December 2024, and early 2025
- Instructed: 9 March 2026
How they found us
A returning client. We had already secured his own Skilled Worker visa. He came back to us and instructed us the same day.
The challenge
- Three consecutive visit visa refusals, each on the basis that her expenses exceeded her salary.
- A refusal history follows an applicant into every later application and has to be addressed rather than ignored.
- The couple had married in January 2024, so the relationship was relatively recent at the point of application.
- Three attempts at the wrong route had cost time, fees and credibility.
What we did
- Changed the route rather than the application. Instead of a fourth visit visa attempt, the case was rebuilt as a Skilled Worker dependant application resting on the marriage and the sponsor's qualifying salary and role.
- Used the history we already had. Having handled the sponsor's own visa, we held his occupation code, salary and immigration history without needing to reconstruct them.
- Documented the relationship properly. The timeline from meeting in September 2023 through to the January 2024 marriage, with supporting evidence including their travel together.
Why it matters
People apply for the visa they have heard of. A spouse who simply wants to be with her husband applies to visit, is refused for not looking like a visitor, and applies again. The refusals accumulate and make the correct application harder. Diagnosing the route is often the entire value of the advice.
