Changes to UK Visa Vignette Issuance

Official Visa Update: Changes to UK Visa Vignette Issuance from 2025

Jun 24, 2025

Effective 15 July 2025, the Home Office is introducing changes to the issuance of visa vignettes to certain applicants.

Applicants seeking a study or work visa may no longer receive a physical vignette in their passport. Instead, they will need to create a UKVI account and obtain access to their eVisa prior to travelling to the UK. The eVisa will serve as their official immigration status. This means that you won’t need to give your passport at the visa application centre. This is because your passport will not be stamped with a vignette sticker.

All the following visas will only get eVisas from 15 July 2025:

  • Skilled Workers (including Health and Care)
  • Students (including short-term up to 11 months)
  • Global Talent
  • Temporary Workers
  • Youth Mobility Scheme

However, individuals who are applying as dependants for any visa category or as main applicants for visa types other than study or work will continue to receive a vignette in their passport.

Guidance for Entry Clearance

All applicants for study or work visas will receive detailed guidance during the visa process. This will include instructions on how to register their account and link it to their passport to ensure seamless travel arrangements. This digital eVisa serves as evidence of immigration status and will be your official means of entry clearance.

It is essential that visa applicants familiarise themselves with the updated requirements and ensure they have successfully registered their UKVI account prior to travelling. If you require assistance or further clarification, our legal team is here to support you through the entire process.
