When the UK formally ended its membership of the European Union, unfortunately, so did the freedom of movement of people between the EU and the UK. EU nationals who were living in the UK before 1st January 2021 were (and still are) able to remain under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) by applying for pre-settled or settled status.
