Working out the total cost will enable you to put the money you need aside to relocate to the UK. What fees will I have to pay as a UK Global Talent Visa applicant?
As part of the Global Talent Visa application process, you may need to pay the following fees/costs:
- Global Talent Visa Application fee (payable to the Home Office) – as we explain below, if you apply for endorsement as a leader or potential leader in your field, you will need to pay this fee in two parts.
- Healthcare Surcharge – You must pay the healthcare surcharge upfront as part of your Visa application. Doing so will ensure that you can use the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) for any medical care or treatment that you need while in the UK.
- Legal fees – if you choose to use the services of an immigration Solicitor and
- Faster Visa processing fee – You may have the option to use the Priority or Super priority application service to receive a much faster decision on your Visa application. An additional fee is payable to use these premium services.
How much is the application fee for the Global Talent Visa?
The Global Talent Visa application fee is £716.
The Global Talent Visa is fairly unique in that it has two eligibility pathways:
- Through endorsement as a leader or potential leader in your field (i.e. academia or research, arts and culture, or digital technology) or
- As a recipient of an eligible award in your field.
If you are on the endorsement route, you will need to pay the £716 fee in two parts:
- £524 when you apply for endorsement as a leader or potential leader and then
- £192 once you have endorsement and you apply for your Global Talent visa
If you are on the award route, you will be asked to pay the full £716 when you apply for the visa online. Remember, you will also need to pay a visa application fee for your dependants (i.e. partner and children).
How much is the Global Talent Visa healthcare surcharge?
The healthcare surcharge must be paid upfront and in full for the total amount of time that your visa will be valid when you apply for your Global Talent Visa online. This must also be paid for your dependants. This is a mandatory cost that enables foreign nationals coming to the UK to receive healthcare from the National Health Service during their time here. The healthcare surcharge fees are as of November 2024 are as follows:
- £1,035 per adult per year
- £776 per child per year
For example, you will pay a healthcare surcharge of £5,175 if your initial Global Talent Visa is granted for 5 years, plus any fees payable for your dependants.
How much is the Global Talent Visa Priority Service?
When you apply for your Global Talent Visa, you may be given the option to use the Priority Service or Super Priority Service to receive a decision much faster for an additional fee. As of November 2024, these fees are as follows:
- £500 – Global Talent Visa Priority Service fee
- £1,000 – Global Talent Visa Super Priority Service fee
If you use the Global Talent Visa Priority Service, you will normally receive a decision on your application from UKVI within 5 working days (compared to 3 weeks if submitted outside the UK and 8 weeks if submitted inside the UK). This faster processing time commences from when you provide your biometrics (ID/photo and fingerprints) to UKVI. If you use the Global Talent Visa Super Priority Service, if available in the country you apply from, you can expect a decision at the end of the next working day.

How much does it cost to apply for a Global Talent Visa extension?
The Global Talent extension cost is lower than the initial application fee of £716. Remember, you will also need to pay the healthcare surcharge for the amount of time that your visa is being extended for.
Alternatively, most Global Talent Visa holder apply for permanent settlement rather than extending their visa. Permanent settlement does not require the payment of the healthcare surcharge, removes the need to apply for future visas, and leads to citizenship after a further 12 months.
