Why AY&J

Why Are AY&J Your Ideal Sponsor Licence Compliance Audit Partner?

Fast-growing tech teams hire overseas engineers quickly, and the compliance paperwork rarely keeps pace. That gap is what a Home Office visit exposes. Our sponsor licence compliance audit is built to close it.
  • First, we will review your right-to-work checks, your Certificate of Sponsorship assignments, and your Skilled Worker records.
  • Then we will fix what we find, from remote-working right-to-work gaps to SOC codes that no longer match the role.
You will want this done before UKVI arrives at your door. As your audit partner, we treat a mock visit as the real thing. Nothing is left to chance on the day.

Refusal Risks

How does AY&J clear each risk?

Common refusal risk

  • Right-to-work checks not repeated for remote or hybrid staff
  • SOC code or salary that no longer matches the tech role
  • No clear link between the sponsored worker and a genuine vacancy
  • HR systems that cannot produce records on request
  • Key personnel or SMS user details are out of date
  • Reporting deadlines missed after a change of circumstances

How we handle it

  • We rebuild the check schedule and close every gap before the visit
  • We re-map the role against the current going rate and correct the record
  • We evidence the role and the recruitment behind it
  • We audit your processes and put a compliant system in place
  • We review your SMS and fix the personnel record
  • We set up a reporting routine so the ten-day limit is never breached

Frequently Asked Questions

Contact us

Costs and first step

What is the first step?

It is worth starting with a short discovery call. We can then assess your risk and recommend the right package before any fee is agreed upon.

How the audit works

What do we get at the end?

You will receive a written risk report and a prioritised list of fixes. The ongoing packages also help you put them in place. Nothing is left as a vague recommendation.

How the audit works

Do you support us during an actual visit?

Yes. We would suggest bringing us in before the day. Our packages include support for a live or virtual compliance check.

About the audit

Who runs the audit?

A qualified immigration solicitor leads it, never a junior caseworker. You will need that seniority if the findings have to be defended to the Home Office.

Costs and first step

How much does a sponsor compliance audit cost?

Our audit fees are fixed and agreed upfront. Compliance Shield is £4,500 and the Academy training day is £1,500. Compliance Care starts at £495 per month, excluding VAT.

Risks of non-compliance

Does a right-to-work slip really matter that much?

It does. A single missed or late check can remove your defence against a civil penalty. It is one of the first things an officer asks to see.

Risks of non-compliance

Can a compliance problem affect our current engineers?

Yes. If your licence is revoked, sponsored workers normally have their permission curtailed to sixty days. That forces an urgent scramble to protect the team.

Risks of non-compliance

What is the cooling-off period after revocation?

You will usually wait twelve months before you can reapply. That rises to twenty-four months if your licence has been revoked before.

Risks of non-compliance

What are the fines for illegal working?

The civil penalty is up to £45,000 per worker for a first breach. A repeat within three years rises to £60,000. It is charged per illegal worker, so it adds up fast.

Risks of non-compliance

What happens if we fail a Home Office visit?

The Home Office can downgrade, suspend, or revoke your licence. Revocation cuts your sponsored workers' permission and blocks new hires, so it is the outcome the audit exists to prevent.

How the audit works

Will you tell us what to fix, or fix it with us?

Both are available. The Compliance Shield package finds and fixes the gaps. Compliance Care hands the ongoing burden to us as your Level 1 User.

How the audit works

How long does an audit take?

A focused audit usually runs over a few days, depending on how many sponsored workers you have. We will give you a timescale once we know your numbers.

About the audit

Why do IT companies need this more than most?

Tech firms hire overseas at speed and often work remotely, so right-to-work and record-keeping gaps open quickly. That combination is exactly what UKVI looks at first.

About the audit

How is this different from a mock audit?

A Sponsor Licence mock audit is the same review run as a rehearsal for a real visit. We use the terms for the same core service, and the depth depends on the package you choose.

About the audit

What is a Sponsor Licence compliance audit?

It is a full review of your sponsor duties, from right-to-work checks to your SMS records and HR files. We test them the way a Home Office officer would, then fix what falls short.
