-For unmarried partners, the Immigration Rules do not strictly require that you have lived together for two years. The requirement is to demonstrate a genuine and subsisting relationship of at least two years. Where a couple has not lived together (for example, due to cultural or religious reasons that do not allow cohabitation before marriage), this should be clearly explained and supported with alternative evidence.
-For in-country partner applications, the correct technical term is FLR(M) – Further Leave to Remain as a partner. Rather than saying “most people call it FLR(M)”, it is better to state that this is the formal name of the application.
-For the financial requirement met through cash savings, please make it clear that joint savings can be used even when applying from outside the UK, provided the funds meet the Home Office rules on amount, ownership and the 6-month holding period.
